Mahlum Architects designed three schools in western Washington as part of a pilot project initiated by the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES). Based on a single replicable design, the three detached schools—Jefferson Elementary School in Mt. Vernon, Greywolf Elementary School in Sequim, and Maple Elementary School in Seattle—include CLT and dimension lumber walls, and wood truss roofs. Each accommodates four classrooms, restrooms and support spaces. Highlights include exposed CLT and flexible interior configurations.
