Mr. Woods is experienced in the areas of structural analysis and designs for various industrial, commercial, health care, educational, institutional, and residential projects in both the public and private sectors. He is proficient in steel, concrete, foundation, masonry, timber, and segmental retaining wall design, and has performed forensic investigations of structural failures and performance problems for various clients.
As leader of the NE US structural / architectural group, he is responsible for the group’s overall performance, quality and efficiency, coordinating operations between multiple offices, and reviewing construction in progress for compliance with designs, details, and specifications. Mr. Woods is also proficient in computer-aided drawing and modeling, analysis, and design.
He is currently responsible for the delivery of technical solutions for complex and/or diverse projects. He provides input to project delivery and execution, upholds guidelines of the Quality Management System, communicates with clients and specific project teams, and directs technical staff members during a project’s progression. He is also responsible for demonstrating leadership on technical innovations and intellectual property development.
Mr Woods' undergraduate education was in wood products engineering which covered the many areas of the timber industry like plywood and glulam manufacturing, pressure treatment processes and the design of timber structures. His graduate work focused on finite element modeling of strength loss in decayed utility poles which was an extension of work with Osmose as a utility pole inspector. Once in the engineering profession Mr. Woods has had the opportunity to design several heavy/ mass timber structures for commercial, residential and assembly sectors. These designs utilized glulam beams, glulam decking, nail-lam decking.
