Archer Hotel Tysons Corner

Tysons, VA

The Archer Hotel features an elegant rooftop terrace and bar. The terrace features a structural timber frame roof that spans the width of the terrace and is composed of massive glulam beams hewn in Minnesota. The glulam beams were Kiln Dried Douglas Fire and the decking lumber was kiln dried #1 Southern Pine. The largest beams stood six inches and three-quarters wide and 30 feet tall while the smallest beams were three-and-one-eighth inches wide and three feet long. The girders reached lengths of 28 feet. The girders and beams at Level 7 are Glue Laminated Timber supported by structural steel columns. Heavy timber decking sat on top of those Glulam members to create the ceiling and roof structure.
