LoneHollow Ranch Young Life Camp

Vanderpool, TX

Timberlyne proudly contributed to the expansion of LoneHollow Ranch Young Life Camp in Vanderpool, Texas. This sacred space in the Texas Hill Country represents more than construction—it's about creating environments where authentic relationships and life-changing conversations can flourish. Timberlyne worked on two buildings for the LoneHollow expansion. The Fiesta Hall Club Room (14,000 sq. ft.) and Smitty's Dining Hall (27,000 sq. ft.).

The Fiesta Hall Club Room features a distinctive mass-timber space frame that showcases the structural and architectural potential of glulam construction. Designed to push the boundaries of typical mass timber structural design, the project balances the technical/functional demands of a theater with a warm, expressive wood aesthetic.

A key achievement of the design was the creation of an approximately 70-foot clear span, resulting in nearly 4,000 square feet of open, unobstructed space within the main room. The multidirectional truss configuration enabled this expansive gathering space while showcasing the structural capabilities and warmth of exposed mass timber. The structure serves as a defining architectural feature, giving the space its distinctive character.

The project also involved integrating a steel structural system with the mass timber frame. Successfully coordinating these two materials required close collaboration across trades and careful management of a hybrid structural approach, ensuring both systems worked together to achieve the project's engineering and design goals. Timberlyne hired a steel sub to handle the steel structure on both buildings and worked closely to ensure a seamless integration of the materials.

The natural warmth and structural integrity of mass timber perfectly align with Young Life's mission to create authentic, welcoming environments where young people can experience genuine community and hear the gospel message.
