Wii Maajiikwad Tribal School and Recreation Center
Mount Pleasant, MI
This 79,000-square-foot facility, located on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe’s reservation in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, consolidates multiple tribal programs within a single campus. The building accommodates the Anishinabe Language Revitalization Department and Sasiwaans Preschool, the Tribal Education Department and Saginaw Chippewa Academy (K–5), and Tribal Recreation.
Program spaces include three preschool classrooms, six elementary classrooms, two full gymnasiums, a weight room, a stage/multi-purpose area, a media/library area, six special-use rooms, and approximately 21 office and multi-use work areas. Additional components include a food service area with associated storage, an outdoor courtyard, and a main lobby entrance. The facility is organized to support educational, cultural, and recreational activities in a unified environment.
