Canmore Fire Station
Canmore, ABCanmore Fire Station is a one story, 18,700 square foot emergency services facility in Canmore, Alberta. Completed in 2024, the station was designed with an emphasis on operational efficiency, creating a streamlined layout that supports emergency response while accommodating the needs of daily fire department operations.
The fire station features four tandem drive-through bays, storage and supported spaces, a hose tower, fire operations office, administration spaces, a dedicated training room, five dorms with a kitchen, lounge and unisex washrooms. The carefully planned spaces provide a flexible and functional environment that supports emergency services, firefighting training, and connections with the local community. The station integrates FireSmart strategies and sustainable site design features, including a rooftop photovoltaic array that generates 153,000 kWh per year. Designed to meet zero-carbon standards and achieve net-zero readiness, the facility supports the Town of Canmore's commitment to reducing its overall carbon footprint.
An exposed glulam structural system is incorporated throughout the facility, highlighted at the main entrance canopy and within the fire station bays. The visible timber elements enhance the architectural character of the building while supporting its sustainability goals and delivering a durable, high-performance civic facility.
