Catlin Gable Schnitzer Community Center

The Schnitzer Community Center at Catlin Gabel School is a 39,000-square-foot campus hub designed to bring together students, faculty, families, alumni, and the broader community. Combining dining, athletics, wellness, and event spaces within a single building, the center creates a welcoming destination that supports connection, learning, and celebration while strengthening the school's relationship with its natural surroundings.

Designed to respond to the site's steep topography, the building integrates indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, including terraces that extend learning and wellness activities into the landscape. Athletic facilities include a competition gymnasium, practice courts, fitness and treatment spaces, and flexible areas that support both school programming and community events.

Mass Plywood Panels (MPP), manufactured by Freres Engineered Wood, are incorporated into the project's stair system. The Schnitzer Community Center provides a durable, flexible environment that supports the evolving needs of the Catlin Gabel community while reinforcing the school's commitment to collaboration, wellness, and connection.
