Juniper Ridge Public Works
Bend, ORThe Juniper Ridge Public Works Campus in Bend, Oregon, consolidates five essential public works departments and approximately 300 employees into a single, purpose-built campus designed to support the city's continued growth. Situated on a 35.5-acre site, the campus includes administrative offices, fleet maintenance facilities, warehouses, employee support spaces, and specialized operations buildings, all thoughtfully integrated within the region's high desert landscape of juniper forest, sagebrush, and volcanic rock outcroppings.
The campus was designed to maximize daylight, frame views of the Cascade Mountains, and reduce environmental impact through energy-efficient strategies and low-carbon materials. While the headquarters building features cross-laminated timber, Mass Plywood Panels (MPP), manufactured by Freres Engineered Wood, are utilized in the operations and fleet maintenance buildings, providing a durable and efficient structural system. Together, the buildings demonstrate the versatility of mass timber in municipal infrastructure while supporting the project's goals for resilience, sustainability, and long-term performance.
