Domaine Willamette

Dayton, OR

Domaine Willamette is a new sparkling wine production and hospitality destination for Willamette Valley Vineyards, located on the Bernau Estate in Dundee, Oregon. Overlooking the rolling vineyards of the Willamette Valley, the pavilion expands the estate’s visitor experience while creating a year-round gathering space that celebrates its connection to the surrounding landscape.

Positioned on a hillside to maximize views, the two-level pavilion takes advantage of the site's topography. The upper level features a fireplace lounge and tasting area, while the lower level accommodates larger groups and events. Generous openings connect visitors to the vineyards and distant views of Mount Hood, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience.

The pavilion's architecture complements the existing estate buildings through its material palette and roof form, while expressing the warmth and craftsmanship of mass timber construction. Mass Plywood Panels (MPP), manufactured locally by Freres Engineered Wood, serve as both the primary structural system and the finished ceiling surface. The exposed wood structure enhances the visitor experience, showcases Oregon-grown wood products, and strengthens the building's connection to its regional context.

By combining hospitality, landscape, and innovative mass timber technology, the pavilion demonstrates how locally sourced wood products can create beautiful, high-performance spaces that reflect the character of the Pacific Northwest.
