San Diego Safari Park - Mkutano House

Escondido, CA

The Mkutano House, a part of San Diego Safari Park's Elephant Valley expansion, provides a centralized hub for guests to gather, enjoy globally inspired dining, and take in the sights of the nearby African elephants within their new 13-acre exhibit. The Mkutano House features 19,700 sf of space including a restaurant and lounge, basement commissary, and VIP level dedicated to hosting weddings, conferences and celebratory events.

Built within an active wildlife park environment, the Elephant Valley project—including the Mkutano house—required close coordination with Zoo planners and elephant specialists, architects, and trade partners. Careful planning and consideration of construction schedules, safety protocols, and animal welfare were a crucial piece of this project.
