Martel Construction was founded in Bozeman in 1960 by German-born carpenter Emil Martel and his son Bill, starting with a single spec house. The family firm soon grew from residential work into commercial, public, education, healthcare, and aviation projects across Montana. 
 
Still based in Bozeman, Martel now has offices for the Big Sky, Missoula, and Kalispell area markets. In 2007, key employees became shareholders, but Emil’s grandsons Tony and Jason Martel still lead the company, with about 200 people and projects approaching $200 million.
