Globeville
Denver, COA First-of-Its-Kind Mass Timber Community Hub
Located in Denver’s historic Globeville neighborhood, this 250,000 sq. ft. transformative development brings together 170 affordable homes, a new Denver Public Library branch, a community café, and 50,000 sq. ft. of landscaped green space - all within a sustainably designed, mass timber structure. Once home to heavy industry and long shaped by environmental inequity, Globeville is now setting a new precedent for community-led redevelopment.
The 5-storey building features CLT-framed residential units above a concrete podium that anchors civic spaces such as the library, residential lobby, and grade-level townhome entries. This approach reflects the neighborhood’s industrial heritage while delivering a healthy, low-carbon environment for residents.
Mass Timber Chosen for Sustainability, Efficiency & Speed of Construction
Mass timber was chosen not only for its sustainability benefits but also for its economic efficiency and speed of construction, key factors in delivering urgently needed, family-capable affordable housing.
CLT’s modularity and structural performance make it especially well-suited to multi-family residential projects, helping reduce embodied carbon while providing natural warmth and acoustic comfort.
