Wood Village City Hall & Civic Center
Wood Village, ORThe new Wood Village City Hall and Civic Center is a 9,000-sf building with a centralized council chambers area featuring a 25-foot ceiling made of exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT) and heavy timber trusses. The building houses offices, open workspaces, kitchen, break areas, storage rooms, conference rooms, and event spaces, but the council chambers area is the highlight of the new building. With a nod to the city’s namesake and a desire for a timeless aesthetic, the city wanted to use as much wood as possible, especially in their council chambers.
The open council chambers area allows for a variety of seating options and configurations, and the office areas were designed with flexibility to meet future growth needs. Additionally, interior spaces were laid out in a way that provides a separation of public and private spaces so the building can function securely during “off hours.”
