I am a Senior Structural Engineer at Arup, based in Washington, DC. I have designed the first two cross-laminated timber projects in DC - Washington Latin and 80 M Street SE (currently in construction). I serve as lead structural engineer and project manager for 80 M Street SE, which along with being the first commercial mass timber office building in DC, is also the first exposed 2-hour rated mass timber structure in the Mid-Atlantic.
As a multi-disciplinary firm, Arup specialicizes in providing holistic solutions that address the technical challenges of timber construction, including vibration, fire, and acoustics. Based on our project experience, we also help advise owners and clients early on of code approval pathways and procurement processes to ensure a code-compliant, cost-effective structure.
