The design and construction of an Agricultural Sciences Building located in Boise, ID, initially appeared complex due to the structure’s size and design intricacies. Eventually, the project assumed a more straightforward nature due to its repetitive design. The architect invested substantial, thoughtful effort into crafting a structure with an impeccable exterior aesthetic.

Originally designed with structural steel framing, the project encountered supply chain-related delays, requiring the project team to reimagine the building's construction using engineered wood products. The final design featured Open-Web Barrel Trusses, which perfectly aligned with the architect's vision for the exterior.

Several preparatory measures were undertaken to enhance the installation process and ensure efficiency. Each of the 300 trusses had factory-installed outriggers, streamlining the assembly process. Moreover, the entire roof system was pre-assembled on the ground into 8-foot modules and flown in via crane. While the concrete block walls were being constructed, the framers concurrently worked on assembling the modules. Once the block walls were completed, installing the 300 Open-Web Trusses took a mere 5 days, highlighting the project's seamless coordination and successful execution. This approach afforded the project team greater flexibility in their schedule and significantly expedited the installation phase.
