American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University – David E. and Stacey L. Goel Center for Creativity & Performance
Boston, MA
The David E. and Stacey L. Goel Center for Creativity & Performance is set to be a transformative facility designed to foster performance, public gathering, and creativity. The building will feature two flexible performance venues, light-filled rehearsal studios, teaching spaces, a spacious public lobby, and an outdoor performance yard, creating a vibrant hub for artistic innovation.
Constructed with a strong focus on sustainability and resiliency, the center will be built using laminate mass timber, reclaimed brick, and cedar cladding to minimize its carbon footprint. Designed to achieve the prestigious Living Building Challenge Core accreditation, the facility will utilize solar power, natural ventilation, and Harvard’s new lower-carbon District Energy Facility to reduce both embodied and operational carbon. The center will also feature a green roof and extensive landscaping to enhance biodiversity, manage stormwater, and contribute to occupant well-being.
This project pushes the boundaries of sustainable construction while providing future-ready, adaptable spaces that support the evolving needs of the arts and the surrounding community.
