Brundage Mountain Adventure Center (M.A.C.)
McCall, ID
The new Brundage Mountain Adventure Center is set to become the central hub of activity at Brundage Ski Resort in McCall, Idaho. Since opening on Thanksgiving Day in 1961, Brundage has been a beloved destination in the Idaho ski community, known for its deep snow, welcoming atmosphere, and authentic mountain experience. This new facility builds on that legacy—offering a year-round space to enhance the guest experience and strengthen community ties.
The Mountain Adventure Center is a guest’s starting and ending place for activities at Brundage Mountain Resort. It will house administrative offices, a kids' club room, a resort retail shop, and a cozy coffee shop—bringing both function and hospitality under one roof. It is a space designed not just for resort operations, but also as a gathering place for families, skiers, and visitors.
From the first concepts, Epikos envisioned a warm interior with exposed wood structure in contrast to the snowy and rugged site. Brundage receives approximately 20 feet of snow per year, and the building needed large spans to accommodate guests, so the open-web trusses were an integral part of the design from those initial concepts. In addition, Brundage’s ownership has a history in the Idaho timber industry that made it a great fit. Epikos Design and RedBuilt worked closely together with BIM software to generate accurate truss profiles for the varied roof and floor spans.
With sustainability and the end look in mind, wood was selected as the primary structural material for its renewable nature, low embodied carbon, and natural aesthetic that blends seamlessly with the mountainous surroundings. Some portions of the roof structure are left exposed, celebrating the craftsmanship and structural beauty of the wood, while others are enclosed for added protection and insulation. Together, these elements balance durability, efficiency, and architectural expression.
The Brundage Mountain Adventure Center stands as a modern, sustainable addition to the resort—one that honors its deep roots while looking ahead to future generations of mountain enthusiasts.
