Wellsmith Apartments is a five-story, 349-unit residential project in Richmond, Virginia. The building footprint is a figure eight with one side open to engage the public with a welcoming street presence. Most of the five-story structure is wood frame. On the ground floor, a steel structure is strategically located in areas like loading and amenity spaces where larger spans are required. The building is divided into three fire zones, separated by three-hour wood-framed firewalls.
Unit types range from studios to three bedrooms, with more than 12,000 SF of common amenities, bridging two open-air courtyards.
