The Dundas Street Façade of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is an iconic part of Toronto's cultural identity. Its doubly curved façade uses heavy timber, not steel as the primary structure. 18m long diagonal Douglas-fire glulam arches, each uniquely curved, sweep across the 180m long façade, supporting a secondary grid of doubly curved glulam members and glass panels, all fully exposed. Pioneering use of 5-axis CNC fabrication allowed non-repetitive timber elements while standardizing steel-timber connections.
