Cook County Schools

Grand Marais, MN

Cook County Schools expansion and renovation in Grand Marais, Minnesota will include approximately 23,000 square feet of new construction and 42,000 square feet of renovated space. The project will improve educational, athletic, administrative, and student support facilities while creating a connected environment for students, staff, and the community. The redevelopment of the project features a new gymnasium, fitness centre, athletic commons, student services, administration offices, and a new entrance.

A key feature of the renovation will be introducing new skylights throughout the centre of the school's central commons and gathering spaces. Douglas Fir glulam beams and columns form the structural framework supporting the skylights and showcasing the exposed beams throughout the school. The back and front entrance of the school will also include glue laminated beams and columns.
