Mission Mezzanine

San Francisco, CA

This mixed-use building, a mezzanine addition within an existing office and shop facility in California, provided an ideal opportunity to leverage mass timber. The project team selected cross‑laminated timber (CLT) panels to meet both the aesthetic goals and functional requirements of the space, creating a warm, modern interior expression.

A key design driver involved maintaining an open area below the mezzanine without introducing additional columns. The exposed CLT met the structural demands and enhanced the architectural character of the space, showing how mass timber efficiently solves design challenges and elevates commercial interiors.
