Warren Branch Library

Warren, MI

The Warren Branch Library is a sustainable, mass timber community hub located in Warren, Michigan. Designed by PLY+ Architecture, this compact building features prefabricated wood panels and a modular timber structure to create an inviting, low-carbon public space.

  • Structural System: The building relies on mass timber and prefabricated panels to speed up construction and keep costs low.
  • Design & Community: Developed closely with library staff, it features a highly efficient layout. It offers a central gathering space, Wi-Fi, technology access, and a tool-rental "Library of Things".
  • Site & Sustainability: The library sits next to a city-owned park and uses bio-retention gardens (special planted areas that naturally filter rainwater) for eco-friendly stormwater management.

  • Timber was chosen for its warm, natural aesthetic and because it has a smaller carbon footprint than traditional materials.
