Boulder Western City Campus

Boulder, CO

The City of Boulder’s Western City Campus will be the first mass timber civic project in Colorado to source a significant portion of its structural wood from within the state. Approximately 50% of the CLT used in the building will come directly from local sawmills, where regionally harvested fiber is being used to develop a new mass timber panel layup tailored to Colorado’s forest conditions. In collaboration with Sustainable NW and SmartLam, Timberlab strives to support local forest economies with this project. The intentional sourcing of Colorado lumber also positions the project as a model for increased domestic use of mass timber, driving investment in the state’s forest product manufacturing sector.
