Saddleback College @ ATEP

Tustin, CA

Saddleback College @ ATEP is a new mass timber-forward higher education campus developed for Saddleback College’s Culinary Arts and Advanced Automotive Technology programs within the Advanced Technology & Education Park (ATEP) in Tustin, California. The project incorporates a distinctive exposed timber roof system featuring long-span double-curved Alaskan Yellow Cedar glulam beams integrated with steel decking to create a highly architectural and modern learning environment. The timber structure was selected to provide warmth, sustainability, and visual identity while demonstrating advanced prefabrication and engineered wood construction techniques. The exposed wood systems create a biophilic educational environment while supporting California sustainability goals and reducing embodied carbon compared to conventional structural systems.
