Located in the Ford Rd Overlay district in Westland Michigan, this new veterinary hospital embodies biophilic focused design to imbue health and wellness in the families and patients who come to recover and stay healthy.
To acknowledge the sites corner location along Ford Rd, the building mass slopes gradually for 107ft, rising from 11ft by the sites eastern parking to 21ft at the prominent corner of the district. A MASS timber structure of glue laminated beams and columns with cross laminated timber roof panels will create a double height foyer, exhibited to the public with clerestory glazing.
For durability and façade variation, brick masses with punched aluminum windows and shrouds allow natural ventilation throughout the project. Stained wood siding accents each window bay, alluding to the natural aesthetics of the projects interiors.
