Wells Transportation Station

Wells, ME

The Wells Transportation Station expansion is a mass timber component of the Wells Area Improvement Project for the Amtrak Downeaster corridor. The project utilized Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) for passenger platform roof structures, ADA elevator shaft panels, and the overhead pedestrian bridge roof system. Mass timber was selected for its dimensional precision, rapid installation, reduced jobsite disruption, and architectural warmth in an active public transit environment. The use of CLT enabled accelerated installation sequencing while maintaining tight alignment tolerances required for rail platform infrastructure.
