The Lane Library

Butler County, OH

The new Lane Library in Fairfield Township, OH will feature a two-wing, single-story design that takes advantage of the site’s natural hillside slope.

Beneath one of the wings, an outdoor programming space will provide a unique setting for community events, highlighted by an art installation featuring butterflies, birds, bees, and other pollinators to connect the space to its surrounding landscape.

Inside, visitors will find cozy reading nooks built along the hillside, as well as dedicated areas for children, teens, and adults. The layout includes a large meeting room, breakout spaces, individual study rooms, and a “story stair” that links the children’s and teen areas.

At 21,000 square feet, the library will be constructed with a mass timber structural system and use Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).
