The Quileute Tribal School was completed in 2021 using glulam beams and cross laminated timber panels. This school was previously located in an extremely wet and windy area, and was the first building to be prioritized in the "Move to Higher Ground" initiative provided by the US Government in an effort to relocate the tribe to a less hazardous area. The school was the first of this project to be moved, but future housing is planned as well in this area.
CLT was chosen for it's ease and speed of construction, and provides a beautiful aesthethic for the children to learn in. The school will also be utilized as a community gathering place and in case of emergencies, a shelter building for the tribe in the case of a natural disaster.
