CLT INSTALLATION
One of the largest Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) projects in the Pacific Northwest to date. McLoughlin Middle School and Marshall Elementary School share the same site in Vancouver, WA. The schools provide a safe and biophilic atmosphere that has been shown to create an improved learning environment for the students and staff alike.
The schools are separated by a 2-hour fire wall, with controlled connections between the media center, kitchen, and Family Community Resource Center. Most of the project is comprised of CLT floors/roofs supported by glulam beams and a combination of tilt-up concrete and wood-frame walls. The campus also includes a gymnasium building designed in steel.
Western Wood Structures was excited to work with Skanska and the design team from Kramer Gehlen & Associates, Inc. and LSW Architects to complete the landmark project. WWS provided the technical support, supply, and install.
