Remington YMCA in Quarry Park
Calgary, ABThe 94,000 square foot facility includes leisure and competition swimming pools, a multi-purpose gymnasium with running track, fitness areas, studio spaces, childcare services, and a full-service Calgary Public Library branch. The design emphasizes extensive glazing to maximize natural light and visual connections between spaces, with the timber elements providing structural support for these open, connected areas.
The project achieved LEED Gold certification and represents one of four new recreational facilities built as part of The City of Calgary's investment to improve recreation opportunities in underserved areas. The facility cost $63 million and was designed with specific attention to community needs following extensive research and engagement.
