Reid has been involved in the design and construction of mass timber buildings since the infancy of the mass timber movement including Framework in Portland, OR and Catalyst in Spokane, WA. He is also active in mass timber research and development alongside WoodWorks, the Tallwood Design Institute, the U.S. Forest Products Laboratory, the U.S. Forest Service, and numerous universities (Oregon State University, Portland State University, University of Washington, Colorado School of Mines, etc.). Reid is well known for presenting on mass timber at conferences including the Mass Timber Conference, the U.S. National Conference on Earthquake Engineering, the L.A. Tall Building Structural Design Council Annual Meeting, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute Annual Meeting, and the New Zealand Society of Earthquake Engineers Conference.
