Botanical Garden Station — Metro-North Railroad (Harlem Line), Bronx, New York

Botanical Garden Station, built in the 1890s, is a Metro-North Railroad stop on the Harlem Line adjacent to the New York Botanical Garden's entrance on Southern Boulevard in the Bronx. The station is undergoing a comprehensive accessibility and state-of-good-repair renovation, announced by the MTA alongside parallel work at two nearby stations, Williams Bridge and Woodlawn. Work at all three stations is being performed concurrently, supported by long-term track outages; each station is to remain boardable throughout construction, with service maintained through partial platform closures, temporary platforms, staircases, and ramps as needed.

The Botanical Garden Station scope renews all elements of the station to bring it into a state of good repair, including replacement of both elevators, structural repairs to both platforms with full replacement of select piers and platform sections, upgraded stairs, ramps, and walkways, and ADA-compliant ramp reconstruction. The two platforms are connected by a pedestrian overpass.

Role of wood
The station's historic 1890s wood canopy, on the outbound (northbound) platform, is being replaced, and new canopy shelters are being constructed on the southbound platform. Both use a glulam roof canopy — glulam beams and rafters on steel columns — with mass timber supplied by Timberlab and installed by Metropolitan Timber.
