UT Warp10
Durham, NC
The latest development on United Therapeutics' Research Triangle Park campus in North Carolina is a 196,000-square-foot cGMP facility where they will manufacture and package dry powder drug products for inhalation, as well as assemble and package accompanying delivery devices. The medicines manufactured in this facility could support 50,000 patients annually.
Program includes:
- cGMP cleanroom manufacturing suite
- cGMP warehouse
- QC laboratories
- 2-story office space with entrance lobby, conference rooms, break area
- Central Utility Plant
This building is designed to minimize upfront embodied carbon and operate with as low emissions as possible. Building materials, selected to minimize embodied carbon, include:
- Mass timber structure
- Cross-laminated timber (CLT) roof and floor decking
- Timber curtainwall
- Low carbon concrete mixes
- Shou sugi ban charred wood siding
The result is a design that is tracking net zero upfront carbon at the start of construction.
WARP 10 will host a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) array that generates 1.8GWhr annually. This array will add to the 4.7GWhr already generated on this site through a ground mounted PV array. Together, these arrays will generate enough power to offset 41% of WARP10’s anticipated annual energy demand with emission-free renewable energy.
